The 'SHAKERS' originated in England, (Members of The Millenial Church) in the middle of the 18th century.
They came to the U.S in 1774 advocating celibacy, common ownership of property, and a strict, simple way of life. They performed a ritualistic dance with shaking movements, became known as the SHAKERS. Chairs hung
on the wall is an example of how they would store chairs.
