SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY - SHADES OF 'SHAKER' HERE...

Seen at the C U R E Thrift Shop to benefit the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, 111 East 12th Street, NYC

The 'SHAKERS' originated in England, (Members of The Millenial Church) in the middle of the 18th century.
They came to the U.S  in 1774 advocating celibacy, common ownership of property, and a strict, simple way of life. They performed a ritualistic dance with shaking movements,  became known as the SHAKERS.  Chairs hung
on the wall is an example of how they would store chairs.

  1. Great shot. If it weren't for the shadows, these chairs would be floating on that stark wall. I love it. Good cause at that thrift store as well. I am a diabetic. Did you buy anything?

    Peace

  9. Could those be old school chairs? In the day, school furniture was make from wood, not plastic and metal. I think that added to the wellness of learning then.
