Green Market is hard to pass-by without the recall of distant memories! WW2 was a time of
scarcity when it came to finding wools to knit a fair-isle pullover. The palate of colors here was
breathtaking, as well as the cost of each skein - at $19 each!
Gorgeous colours hanging so beautifully and casting pools of pretty shadows! Love these shots!
ReplyDeletelove all the colours and the shadows....
ReplyDeletelovely shadows...and gorgeous bright yarns!
ReplyDeletegreat capture of colors and shadows!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the woolen skeins. I guess that the price reflects the time it takes to collect, spin, and dye the yarns. If I could knit it would be worth it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture, love the colours and the shadows.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Wow they are pretty. Happy SSS!
ReplyDeleteThe fisrt shot is perfect to me. I like how the shadow highlights the colors of the wool...
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the second shot, showing the full array of colours. You could always start knitting for next winter. (My mother used to sit on Margate sands knitting things for the winter to come!)
ReplyDeleteOh boy, oh boy....would I EVER love being there!!!

Have a glorious Sunday. Hope to have you as a visitor today when you find time.
All those colors, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the varied colors. My wife knits so I needed to get a consult on what a skein is and is $19 a lot.
ReplyDeleteoh wouldn't I like to have a few of those skeins for knitting - they're beautiful. but the price - oh my. lovely shadows Margaret. have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGreat shadow shots and great colors! I was at a rug weaver last winter down in New mexico. All her wool was died with natural pigments. Bark, flowers, earth, etc, but these are much more vibrant. very cool.
ReplyDeletePeace
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteYour skeins of wool are breathtaking. Are they dyed naturally? They have an especially rustic look. I bought a book on knitting recently . . . the first baby step towards learning!
I've been reading loads and loads of WWII books lately -- last night I finished The Silver Sword, by Ian Serrallier. I will probably write about Elizabeth Jane Howard later this week. Have you ever read her Cazalet Chronicles?
nice shots. beautiful colours. lg Tina
