SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY - THE HAZARDS OF BIKING IN NEW YORK CITY

A street installation on Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn.     Artist's name unknown at the time of publishing this photograph.    Unless that is his portrait on the right that is drawn in the center of the carpet.

  4. I think it's the same everywhere, people just don't care anymore and are just plain rude to bicyclists...cool shots though!

  5. Wheels and pedestrians can lead to mishaps as the wheeled devices operate at mush faster speeds than the walkers. There are lots of buildings, so collisions can turned tubular metal into a pretzel like mass. All need to pay attention in a crowded NYC to move along safely...

  6. I'm afraid cycling is hazardous in Canada too! Interesting street installation!

  7. This seems to be a universal problem! I wonder if the lower pictures are a sort of memorial to the person depicted?

  8. Neat Shadow Shots. We think Phoenix is one of the most dangerous places to bike. Same with walking...lots of casualties.

  9. Sometimes I sneak out for a bike ride without wearing my helmet. Now after seeing these images I'll be sure not to cycle without my protective headgear firmly in place! I love what you find and share of NYC!

  10. I just saw (tonight)on the local news that there was a blessing of the bicycles at St. John the Divine for a safe season of bicycling. It was pretty neat seeing the cyclists with their bikes inside the church. They even had a moment for all those who were the victims of accidents while cycling.

  13. I love your photos - and I don't have to worry about having an accident on a bike - I haven't cycled (except in the gym) since I was a child!!
