Looking across from here, the jetty, towards the promanade, and famous Dreamland (now to be made into a theme park), the tide is on its way out - it goes way out - leaving pools for paddling, sea weed, and gulls... It is Sunday and the jetty is open to small, garage-like eatery stores, and an art auction...
This is the new Turner Contemporary Center - closed at moment to install Turner paintings and Rodin's 'The Kiss' by the Tate in London. (JMW Turner 1775-1851 lived and painted in his small house here).
Located at the foot of the jetty, overlooking the ocean where the pier used to be.

It all looks very familiar, except the art gallery which I don't think suits its surrounds. The building I remember most is the clock-tower, which appears to be completely unchanged.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though the weather was kind when you took these photos. I'd forgotten how far the sea went out.
ReplyDeleteSafe flight home:-)
Great shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
Nice shots...thanx for the tour! Thats a really love tide!!!
ReplyDeleteThe tide goes 'way out, too, at my hometown, White Rock, British Columbia. I remember paddling in the sun-warmed tide pools when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteI think I would like Margate but the Turner gallery does look out of place. I'd rather have a pier.
