WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Gandhi always remembered in Union Square, NYC

ALAS, NOT EVERYTHING HE HAS SAID, IS -

(See Saturday's shake the pillow day below - it was not exactly non-violent!)

"The future depends on what we do in the present" - Gandhi 1869-1948

A simple common sense quotation to think about but, evidently, so difficult to grasp and be understood by military chiefs of warfare when defensive and offensive options present themselves.
I am reminded of Brenda Bryant's Acrostic post called CHEMICAL WARFARE (April 1) this week at

I was told by a NYPD Community Services cop that this takes place in Union Square every year as a protest against the war. This year they have a permit!  For the past 15 years it has been a spontaneous event.

  2. I love the linking of the gentle Gandhi with the Spring blossoms. He really appears to be strolling under the trees. My own contribution, mentioned above, is very harsh by comparison!

  3. Thanks for this Margaret. Gandhi was truly of the world. The morons who run it haven't the faintest clue.

  6. I didn't catch the reflection at first because I focused on those beautiful pink magnolia blossoms. I'm not into pillow fights or war protesting but I would have liked to take pictures of it.

  8. I do like the idea of Ghandhi walking among the blossoms. Nice you captured it that way.
