Today, Friday, at 7 am Added today for those who wondered where the steam was coming from!
New Yorkers will not forget the day before, Wednesday, when overcast NYC waited for its
blizzard. School was out, and some workers were given a snow day off. By midday it had started in earnest and by midnight it was over. I believe we got less than was expected. There was about 5 inches on top of cars in the lot.
Today, Thursday, the sky was clear and, between 7.10 and 7.25 am, this shapeless white light for
a sun rose, leaving a warmer looking skyline behind. Nonetheless, it was still a very cold day, freezing
muddy looking, lumpy slush, if not quickly swept away by store front owners.

It's rather like mine, except that my sky is cooling after a hot day and yours.........! By the way, I love the last shot, with the intriguing puff of something on the corner.
ReplyDeletelovely photos today.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very cold, forlorn looking sky. I agree with RR that the last shot is very intriguing with the smoke or steam rising from the lower left.
ReplyDeleteCold, cold sky with wonderful, muted colours. The steam in the last photo adds a warmer tone.
ReplyDeleteLovely series. I really like that first shot!
ReplyDeleteThe first shot promises warmth but not this week. Nice series of shots Margaret -- a truly winter sky. You didn't get the blizzard in NY because we got all the snow down here in So. Jersey. Something like 16 - 18 inches on top of the 20+ inches we got last weekend. And they are talking about 5 or 6 inches Monday night. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteThe scene is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is splendid.
Thank you for showing a wonderful moment...
