Terrific shadow shots, Margaret! It is amazing all the places we can find beauty and shadows!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!

An interesting group of shadows, I think you worked for these. I'm afraid I'm not much of an art historian and don't recognize the inspiration.
ReplyDeletewonderful shots - especially those knife shots!!
ReplyDeleteps the artist who springs to my mind is the still life genius - Chardin whose work I really like
ReplyDeleteI especially like #2 1n #3 - the shadow surrounds the space, but fails to darken the sweet red apple - the fruit shines in any lighting. The blade of the knife is elegant as it stands near the cutting platter. The beauty of the tool is due to the functionality of the tool - the knife seems delicate by itself, it waits to work for the cook...
ReplyDeleteIs there a Morandi in there somewhere? We visited the Morandi Museum in Bologna a couple of months back and your beautiful bottle shots certainly remind me of him.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1. My favourite. Title? 'From the hand of an old master'. (Well, a 'young mistress' doesn't sound right! But there really is something beautifully timeless about that shot.
ReplyDeleteThe first one does look familiar but I can't come up with a name. Great shots, even a roll of paper towels becomes art when the shadow is involved.
ReplyDeleteVery arty shots! I'll have to pop back to see the tally of names. My brain has fried from the heat so I'm clueless. Brain fry is a pathetic excuse for my ignorance. If my brain hadn't fried I'd be able to think of a better excuse :)
ReplyDeleteI really like your first shot - it has everything - simplicity, clarity, colour, texture.
ReplyDeleteI always thing in terms of Chardin and Morandi for still lives.
ReplyDeleteThe first three were such an essay with all the round shapes in them.
Your sunrise below was stunning.
Hope to see you next Saturday.
super photos - but I don't know much about art!!
