I have never seen a pigeon chick before - there it was in the middle of a NYC street looking very forlorn.....  Some feet away, its mum appeared to be keeping an eye on it, whose feathers were not as pretty.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY 2: AFTER THE STORM...

Long Beach, NY. after Sandy....   Work has begun to restore the boardwalk.  In the meantime, the walk from Long Beach Station to the still accessible beach is about 30 minutes, depending on how much beach gear is in tow!  The one hour train ride from Pennsylvania Station (LIRR) will be crowded these days, temperatures being in the mid-to-high 80s!
