WEEKEND IN BLACK AND WHITE: THE ASTOR PLACE CUBE, NYC

The distant monumental 15' rotating black CorTem Street Cube, poised on its tip, is located on a traffic island  at Cooper Square and Lafayette Street.  The Astor Place Station is behind the trees.  Apparently the cube can be spun.  Designed by Tony Rosenthal it is called 'Alamo' (1967). It was the first sculpture to be introduced to NYC by the Parks Department.  View from the 10th floor stairwell of my building on 4th Avenue between 11th and 12th street.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS: LOOKING DOWN INSTEAD OF UP....

My kind of painting, if I were painting a crane.....(Puddle Art series)

This one is for my long time friend, Brenda, of  RINKLY RIMES, who recently suffered a stroke and is reportedly recovering nicely, making daily improvements.  She is in rehab and already asking for someone to bring her
camera!

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS: A HOT SPOT IN THE SUMMER....

The Metal Dome, a popular, tricky, climbing structure in Union Square Park, NYC, sometimes gets too hot to play on in the summer - then it is out of bounds for a while.  Today, it is probably too cold at 36 degrees!
