SKY WATCH FRIDAY: DAY BREAK...

Some would prefer not to be wakened at dawn if assigned to a room in this NYU freshman dormitory located on 12th Street, between 4th and 3rd Avenues.  If you fancy it, go here to read about the chances of living at Founders Hall for a while!

SKY WATCH FRIDAY: THIS MORNING'S SUNRISE AT 7 am....

From my 10th floor kitchen window.  To the right is the 23 storey NYU Dorm - too high for the neighborhood but nice for the students!

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY 2: COSMOS ON THE SIDEWALK IN OCTOBER IN NYC!

As the strong Fall sun casts great shadows in the background, this Cosmos planting on the sidewalk, next to a sign post, taller than myself, danced in the wind as I walked by.   October in NY is proving to be a wonderful relief from the hot and humid summer we have had.

WEEKEND IN BLACK AND WHITE: CATCHING THE ELUSIVE HARVEST MOON...

This later sighting of the Harvest Moon over NYC (on Saturday, September 29) was disappointing as fast moving cloud conspired to spoil the view.  Sunday's earlier showing was a perfect orange color until about 8 pm.  Shot from the roof top vantage point of a 12 storey building, next door (to the right) to the much protested '23 storey' NYU Dorm building!  (Deemed too tall for our neighborhood).

SPECIAL HARVEST MOON EVENT: FROM A NEW YORK LOFT VANTAGE POINT..

Saturday night, September 29, in the U.S. the Harvest Moon shines all night.  It was a cloudy night!  But Sunday night was clear and this is when I saw its first appearance...

Spotted at 6.50 pm - September 30, 2012

Seen from my 10th floor open kitchen window

Lift off - It's the full moon closest to the autumn equinox

which came on September 22, 2012

Approximately 8 pm just before the clouds took over!
